Transport Manager (Full-time) Baltinglass

Quinn’s of Baltinglass Ltd is on the hunt for an enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated Transport Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a well-established successful family run business.

Job is based in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow located on the N81. Only 15 mins form the M9 (Junction 3), 20 mins from Carlow town and 35 mins from Naas.

The Role:

  • Co-ordination of all transport activities (including hauliers, own staff, temporary drivers & contractors
  • Responsible for efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers on a daily basis – seasonal products include animal feed, fertiliser, sprays, seed and hardware deliveries
  • Managing the transport team of 4
  • Taking orders directly from customers, suppliers, sales team and depots via email, phone and in person of Quinns products and offerings
  • Effectively liaising with sales, transport, and operation departments to resolve all issues in a timely manner
  • Working with our sales teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery schedules
  • Responsible for ensuring all company delivery vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand
  • Develop systems and processes for the improved management of customer orders and returns
  • Managing Transport Compliance to industry leading standards
  • Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all time

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive, customer focused multi-drop distribution operation and industry knowledge
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service
  • Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business
  • Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • High level of flexibility and problem solving
  • Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (RSA, Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)
  • Understanding of the key drivers in customer service, manufacturing, transport & warehousing operations
  • Experienced in operating in-house inbound raw materials operations and managing HGV drivers
  • Experience in managing and maintaining a fleet of heavy goods vehicles
  • A working knowledge of supply chain systems & processes within a manufacturing environment, an understanding of how to integrate sustainability throughout all processes and decision making.
